Kribi Gastronomy

Exceptional marine cuisine, authentic and tasty, renowned throughout Central Africa.

Impossible to stay in Kribi without succumbing to the delights of its coastal tables. The undisputed star is the Giant Kribi Shrimp, a species of fleshy and incredibly fragrant prawns, often grilled with garlic and local sweet peppers.

Every evening, the beaches come alive around charcoal fires where chefs braise whole fish marinated in Ndjansang, Pèbè and rondelle (local forest spices). The whole is traditionally accompanied by Miondo (fine sticks of cassava paste steamed in banana leaves), fried plantains or crispy cassava fries.

At our MAJEO Complex restaurant, our chef collaborates directly with the canoeists of Mboa Manga to guarantee you products of absolute freshness, sublimated by elegant gastronomic presentations.

Les peuples et traditions culturelles de Kribi
Identity & Heritage

Peoples, Culture and Beliefs

Discover the mystical traditions of the water and forest peoples of the Kribi coast.

Kribi is the cradle of several communities with a strong identity. The Batanga and the Mabi, emeritus fishermen and guardians of the ocean, live in perfect symbiosis with the water spirits. Their rhythmic traditional dances and their songs during the return from fishing are moments of pure poetry.

Every year, on May 9, the community celebrates Mayi, a grandiose historical and spiritual festival commemorating the return from exile of the Batanga in 1916. This is the opportunity to witness wild canoe races, blessing rituals in the waves and sumptuous cultural parades.

In the forest hinterland reside the Bagyeli Pygmies, one of the oldest peoples of Central Africa. Respectful guardians of the biodiversity of the Campo Ma'an Park, they humbly share their ancestral knowledge of medicinal plants and the secrets of the great equatorial forest.
